Solid Plenum Cat6 is designed to meet the strictest of electrical codes; our plenum cable meets or exceeds many common cable standards. The slow burn, low smoke jacket is comprised from CMP rated PVC. Four color-striped pairs make it easy to install and reduces alien crosstalk. Plenum cable is commonly used for structured cabling projects such as vertical, horizontal, or backbone systems. This cable is sold by the foot, order just what you need. Solid Cat6 is commonly terminated to an RJ45 connector, jack, or patch panel. Cat6 is certified for gigabit Ethernet.

  • Jacket Fire Retardant Polyvinyl Chloride (FR-PVC)
  • 23 AWG Solid Bare Copper Conductors
  • Tested up to 550 MHz
  • Meets Cat6 Standards
  • RoHS Compliant
  • ETL Listed
  • CMP Rated
  • Max Continuous Length: 1000 FT

"Plenum" refers to the highest fire-resistance standard of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Many local building codes specify that plenum-rated cables must be used in plenum air-return spaces, such as drop ceilings. These cables have special fire-retardant jackets, but  there is no performance difference between plenum and non-plenum cables. Because plenum cables meet the highest standard, they can be used in any application, but due to price differences it makes sense only to use plenum cables when necessary.

Please note: All products that are bought per foot are non-returnable.

Any amount of cable you order above the maximum continuous length of 1000 FT will be sent in separate pieces.

REVIEW SUMMARY for Cat6 UTP Solid Plenum Cable - Black - Per FT
No reviews for this product

Q: What is the maximum length for a Cat6 cable?

A: The maximum length for a Cat6 cable run is 100 meters (328 feet). If longer runs are required, the use of active hardware such as a repeater or switch is necessary.

Q: What is the difference between solid and stranded cable?

A: Solid Cat6 is a 4-pair cable. Within each of the 8 individual wires there is a solid piece of wire covered by a PVC jacket. Because of the solid core of these cables they will be more rigid than stranded cable, but can carry a stronger signal than stranded wire. Solid cable also has the ability to be punched down in to jacks, patch panels, and 66 blocks.

Stranded Cat6 is a 4-pair cable as well. Within each of the 8 individual wires there are multiple tiny stands of smaller gauge wire that are held together by a PVC jacket. Because this cable is made with smaller strands of cable it is more flexible than solid core wire. Stranded Cat6 is typically use for short patch cables. Stranded wire cannot be punched down.

Q: What is shielded Cat6 cable?

A: Shielded Cat6 cable is used for increased protection from interference and crosstalk. It is typically used in electrical noisy environments. Common sources of interference are radio towers, high-powered electrical conduit, fluorescent lighting, or any other device emitting electro-magnetic or radio frequency signals.

Q: What’s the difference between the UL and ETL listed Marks?

A: Both marks demonstrate that the product that bears it has met the minimum requirements of widely accepted product safety standards as determined through the independent testing of a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). The only real difference between the Marks is in the service, and services, of the testing laboratory behind them.

Both the ETL and UL Listed Marks are recognized by local inspectors and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) throughout North America and also in some areas of South America.

Q: What is a flooded cable?

A: Flooded Cat6 cable uses a water blocking gel to protect the cable from water infiltration, even if the cable has a minor cut in the outer jacket. Flooded cable is typically used for direct burial outdoor applications.

Q: Will our Cat6 cable support Power over Ethernet (POE)?

A: Yes, all of our Cat6 will support Power over Ethernet.

Q: What does plenum rated mean?

A: Plenum (CMP) is a rating that is given to cables that have passed a stringent burn test and are able to be run through plenum air spaces. Plenum air spaces include drop ceilings and non-ducted HVAC air returns.
